Takao Mountain
Mt. Takao in Hachioji City is a national park where visitors can enjoy hiking in the mountains.
You can take the cable car or lift up to the middle of the mountain, and then walk up to the top in about one and a half hours. It is said to be an open-air museum of nature, with natural plants, insects, wild birds, etc., allowing visitors to see the natural ecology of the area. From the arrival station of the cable car, there is a spectacular view of the Kanto Plain.
It is a popular place for easy climbing, with broadleaf forests and many cedar trees over 100 years old. There are also many alpine plants, and you can head up to the summit with a smile on your face. Even though it is easy to get to the summit, we recommend that you wear well-fitting sneakers.
