Naoshima Islands
Naoshima Island, made famous by the Setouchi Art Festival, is one of Kagawa's most popular tourist attractions.
At Benesse Art Site Naoshima, international artworks can be seen at the Chichu Art Museum, and visitors can also stay overnight. The island itself is home to artworks from the Setouchi Art Festival, and attracts many domestic and international visitors on a daily basis. The island itself is small, and is just the right size for a bicycle ride around the island.
Many people bring their bicycles here, making it a mecca for cyclists.
The entire island is art!
The entire island is a work of art, with beautiful scenery everywhere you turn. Buses are available, but if possible, you should take your time to tour the island by bicycle. There is also Tadao Ando's ANDO MUSEUM and many fashionable stores. The bakery in the middle of the hill on Naoshima is said to have fantastic bread, which is not allowed in the media.
The boat ride from Takamatsu Port takes about one hour, making it an easy way to enjoy sightseeing. The ferry service from Takamatsu Port to Ogijima, Megijima, and Shodoshima makes it the perfect place for island-hopping. Takamatsu Port is right in front of Takamatsu Station, so we recommend staying overnight in the Takamatsu Station area and touring the islands.
