Atago Shrine
Famous for its abundant spring water, Atago Shrine is known as the god of fire prevention.
Located at the top of Mt. Atago, 26 meters above sea level, the temple is reached by a steep flight of stone steps known as "Succession Stairs. This staircase is called "Otoko-saka" (men's slope), and it is said to bring good luck for success in life. There is also a women's slope, which is more leisurely, so those who are not confident are advised to climb the women's slope first.
At 26 meters above sea level, it is the highest mountain in the area.
The view you see after the climb is also amazing!
After climbing the steep stairs, looking back you can see how steep you have climbed.
It is a little scary to imagine how steep the steps are, as they are 86 steps for men and 108 steps for women. Of course, there is no point to take a break, so show your manly spirit and run up all at once. It is a shortcut to success. Because of the spring water, there are many restaurants serving Jindaiji soba (buckwheat noodles).
