whirling tides in Naruto (Japan)
First of all, we would like to introduce one of Tokushima's most popular tourist attractions, "Naruto's Uzushio ". Known as one of the three major tidal currents in the world, "Naruto's whirlpools "can be seen in the Naruto Straits between Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture and Minami Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. The currents are caused by the difference between the ebb and flow of the Seto Inland Sea and the Kii Channel, and are said to be the largest in the world, reaching up to 20 meters during the spring and fall high tides. The maximum speed of the currents is over 20 kilometers per hour, making it the fastest in Japan.
To see the powerful whirlpools up close
"The best way to see Naruto's whirlpools "up close is on a tide boat. You can view the powerful whirlpools from the top of a high-speed boat or a large ship, and you can also observe the whirlpools in the sea from an underwater tide boat with a glass-walled observation room one meter below the surface of the water. Also, at "Onaruto Bridge Walkway ", located on the bridge girder of the Onaruto Bridge, you can get a bird's-eye view of the giant whirlpool tides about 45 meters below from the glass floor in the central observation room. The powerful whirlpools are sure to make your heart pound. Please note that the whirlpools are not always visible. Please check the tide table in advance.
