Kumamoto Castle



First, let us introduce Kumamoto Castle, the symbol of Kumamoto. The castle was built in 1607 by the famous general Kiyomasa Kato, and is one of the three most famous castles in Japan. 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake damaged important cultural buildings and stonewalls, and construction is steadily underway to fully restore the castle in 2038.

Five years after the Kumamoto Earthquake, the castle keep has been fully restored, and the inside of the keep is open for tours as the third special exhibition from June 2021. On each floor of the castle tower, the history of Kumamoto Castle and the history of the city are introduced using the latest technology such as video and projection mapping, which is one of the highlights of the exhibition. From the top floor of the castle tower, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Kumamoto City and the Aso region, and you can even see a building with the popular character Kumamon on it, so be sure to look for it!

Kumamon Port Yatsushiro



Next, we will introduce a park where you can meet Kumamon, Kumamoto's most popular character. "Kumamon Port Yatsushiro "was completed in March 2020 at Yatsushiro Port, and was created as a base for receiving large cruise ships connecting Yatsushiro with the rest of the world. Kusarigahama / Aso



A spectacular spot where you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the majestic Aso Caldera, "Kusasenrigahama ". It is characterized by a large grassy plain and a large pond in the center of the hillside of Mount Eboshi, one of the five Aso peaks. Aso Cadre Dominion
