Oyster House

The only restaurant on Miyajima specializing in oyster cuisine, this renowned restaurant was featured in the 2018 Michelin Guide Hiroshima. The oysters are carefully cultivated and seasoned simply to bring out the best flavor. The oysters are very resilient and the meat is very large.
In addition, many of our employees have a marine license so that they can go pick up fresh oysters at any time, so you can enjoy the bounty of Hiroshima's sea to the fullest!

list of articles (e.g. in a magazine)

"The signature dish at Oyster Restaurant "is grilled oysters. For 300 yen each, you can enjoy the true taste of carefully selected oysters. We are particular about the way they are grilled, and they are fluffed up so as not to destroy the oyster's fibers. It is recommended to eat them as they are without any dipping sauce, as the taste of the ingredients and the saltiness of the sea are so effective.

Raw oysters can only be served because they are freshly caught. The oysters are peeled after they are ordered and served live, so they are very fresh. The texture is crispy, and they pair perfectly with the lemon produced in Hiroshima Prefecture.

For those who want a hearty meal, the Oyster House set meal is recommended. The set includes two grilled oysters, oyster rice, fried oysters, oyster shop oil marinade, oyster red miso soup, and oyster tsukudani (food boiled in soy sauce), making it a complete oyster meal. The quantity is enough to satisfy even men.

Souvenirs also procured

"You can also buy souvenirs at the oyster shop ". The "Oyster in Oil "is made by frying oysters in oyster sauce until crispy and then marinating them in oil. is very rich and concentrated with the flavor of oysters. It is a perfect accompaniment to wine or sake, so it is recommended as a souvenir for those who love to drink.
Also popular is "Oyster Shop Oyster Dressing ", which is a paste of oysters with a slightly spicy flavor. It can be used not only as a dressing, but also in a wide range of other applications, such as on bread or as a sauce for pasta.
They are also accompanied by a luxury paper bag and are popular as a small souvenir. "Hiroshima G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in 2016 "It was also chosen as a souvenir for the wives of foreign ministers of various countries, and everyone recognizes its ability.

anago-meshiue-no Ueno (sushi wrapped in fried egg)

Taste that lasts for more than 100 years

"Anagomeshi Ueno "is a long-established restaurant that has been in business since 1901. It is located on the way to the ferry terminal from JR Miyajima-guchi before crossing to Miyajima.
Anago donburi was a popular local dish in the waters around Miyajima, where conger eel had long been abundant. The founder of the company, "Ueno Tarinokichi ", devised a new version of the conger eel rice bowl that would have been served on Miyajima, and the soy sauce flavored rice cooked with conger eel ara became very popular. This soy-sauce flavored rice, covered with a layer of conger eel, was first sold as an ekibento (station bento).

Superb Caveman Rice

Anago-meshi is an exquisite dish of conger eel rice with rice that is concentrated with the flavor of conger eel and topped with conger eel that has been finished only by grilling. The surface is crispy and the inside is softly baked, and the sweet soy sauce-based sauce is well entwined with the rice. It is a perfect combination with rice, and you will not be able to stop eating.

Long lines on holidays?

Loved by locals and tourists alike, "Anagomeshi Ueno "often has long lines during lunchtime on holidays. In such cases, we recommend taking out a boxed lunch. It is a smooth purchase, so you can buy a bento and eat it on Miyajima. Reservations can be made and are accepted by phone, e-mail, or in-store.
"Anago meshi Ueno's "bento is characterized by the layers of deliciousness of conger eel, which still stands out even after being cooled. The retro design of the bento's wrapping paper also gives it a sense of luxury and charm.

Saraswati

Stylish café in a back alley

"Saraswati "is located at the top of the hill after walking down Machiya Street toward Itsukushima Shrine and passing through the tunnel. It is an old private house that has been renovated to create a stylish space. It is a renovated warehouse of a souvenir wholesaler that has existed since the Taisho period (1912-1926), with seating on the first and second floors.

Pasta with oysters and beef

"A popular lunch menu at Sarasvati "is "Miyajima Oyster and Beef Pasta ". Fresh oysters from Miyajima and beef are tossed in a rich tomato sauce. The oysters alone are a luxury, but the slow-cooked beef gives the pasta a very luxurious taste. Another reason for its popularity is its reasonable price of 1,200 yen for the bread and coffee set.

In addition to pasta, "Pate de Campagne Sandwich "is also popular. This set comes with coffee and costs 900 yen. The bucket used for the sandwich is made from the popular "Cadona "bread in Hiroshima.

midget tanuki (Nyctereutes procyonoides)

Enjoy the taste of a long-established ryokan that has been in business for over 100 years

"Mame Tanuki "is a 5-minute walk from Miyajima Pier and is located in the long-established ryokan "Kinsuikan "that has been around for over 100 years. The concept of Mametanuki is "more than an izakaya (Japanese-style bar) and less than a kappo (Japanese-style restaurant)," allowing you to enjoy authentic cuisine in a casual atmosphere.

Signature menu "Anago no tobako meshi (rice cooked in a ceramic box with conger eel) "

"Mametanuki "'s signature dish, "Anago no china box rice "is a must-try. The conger eel and rice are steamed in a whole ceramic box, which is a must-try when visiting Miyajima, and the chewy texture is irresistible. The conger eel kabayaki is seasoned with a secret sauce that makes it plump and fluffy. The rice is made from Kuwata rice from Aki Takata City, which is rich in nature, and has a slight sweetness to it. Anago rice is one of Miyajima's specialties, but it is the steaming and broiling "Mame Tanuki "unique cooking method that makes it a fan favorite.

For lunch, in addition to the "conger eel on a ceramic box rice "single item menu, there is also a menu that includes fried oysters and roast beef from Taoshita beef in Takehara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, so you can taste the whole Hiroshima experience!

A selection of locally brewed sake

Sake brewing is popular in Hiroshima Prefecture, and "Mametanuki "offers a large selection of local sake. It goes great with oysters and conger eel dishes, making it a great place to enjoy both sake and cuisine. Why not stretch your wings and enjoy a luxurious time from noon?
