The Six Gardens

Kenrokuen Garden is the first garden that can be named as one of the representative gardens of Ishikawa Prefecture. Along with Mito Kairakuen Garden and Okayama Korakuen Garden, Kenrokuen is one of the three most famous gardens in Japan. It is a very historic garden befitting the city of Kanazawa, which once prospered as the center of Kaga Hyakumangoku. The garden is visited by many people, not only locals but also tourists from all over the world, because of its easy accessibility and the beauty of the four seasons.

Touring around the large site

Kenrokuen Garden is located next to Kanazawa Castle, which was the political center of the Kaga domain during the Edo period. It was built over a long period of time by successive lords of the Kaga domain. The garden was built over a long period of time by successive lords of the Kaga domain, and thus the techniques used to create the garden incorporate elements from many different periods. The vast area of the garden has been used to create ponds and mountains of various sizes, and is dotted with ochin (pavilions) and teahouses. Visitors can not only admire the beautiful scenery, but also enjoy walking around the area at their leisure.

Kenrokuen Garden, with its rich diversity of plants, presents a very different look depending on the season you visit. In spring, hundreds of plum trees and cherry trees are in full bloom, making it an excellent hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spot at night. In summer, the energetic and fresh young grasses are impressive. In the fall, when the holiday season is in full swing, many visitors come to view the autumn foliage. In preparation for the winter snowfall, the trees are being hung with snow. In winter, the branches and leaves of the trees, slightly drooping with snow, look fantastic. The trees are lit up at night each season, and the reflection of the trees on the pond gives a different atmosphere than in the daytime.

Teahouses inside and outside the park

Places where you can enjoy sightseeing at a leisurely pace have a full range of facilities where you can take a break. There are many teahouses in and around Kenrokuen that are in harmony with the landscape, where you can enjoy dango, ice cream, other sweets, and local cuisine. In particular, "Edomachi-dori ", located between "Katsurazaka-guchi "and "Hasuike-mon-guchi ", is a popular spot with several tea stores.

Uchinada Town General Park

A public facility where families and groups can enjoy a wide variety of activities is "Uchinada Town General Park "in Uchinada Town, adjacent to Kanazawa City. The park occupies a large area along the Sea of Japan and has many playground facilities as well as facilities for cycling, tennis, baseball, soccer, ground golf, swimming, and more. It also has a barbecue, a history and folklore museum, and an observatory, making it a great place to spend an entire day.

Two observation decks in the park

Basically, this facility is for people who want to play actively, but in fact, it is notable for its excellent views that take advantage of its perfect location. There are two observation decks in the park, one of which is a circular platform 64 meters above sea level, reached by stairs. The 360-degree panoramic view includes the city of Kanazawa, the Northern Alps, and even the Sea of Japan.

The other is a two-story wooden observation deck called "gazebo ", which is not very high but offers a good view of the Uchinada Bridge. Don't forget that this place has been selected as a sacred place for lovers. "With facilities such as Koimikuji "and "Bell for Happiness ", it is a perfect spot for couples to visit. Why not include the night view at this place in your date course?

Full sports facilities

One of the park's main features is that it offers some of the best sports facilities in the prefecture. In particular, this is the only cycling track in Ishikawa Prefecture. Therefore, in addition to athletes, many families visit the park to enjoy cycling in a casual and safe manner. There is also playground equipment that allows children as well as adults to exercise vigorously. "The large playground equipment Pirate Ship Sunset "is a collection of many pieces of playground equipment and is very popular among children. There are benches and other rest facilities nearby, making it a great place for parents and children to spend time together.

"Uchinada Town Cycling Terminal ", which manages the park's sports facilities, is actually a complex that also offers lodging and barbecue facilities. Business travelers and others who have no particular business in the park can stay in a wide variety of rooms, including Japanese-style rooms, at reasonable prices. The barbecue facilities are also popular, allowing visitors to enjoy themselves on the spot without having to bring their own tools and ingredients. It is really helpful not to have to prepare and clean up. And you can choose an all-you-can-eat course as if you were at a barbecue restaurant, or order a draft beer server if you make a reservation in advance. With covered facilities, you don't have to worry about the weather either. Families and groups are sure to have a great time around the meat.

Nanatsuka Central Park

Located in Kahoku City near the base of the Noto Peninsula, "Nanatsuka Central Park "is another spacious park with a view of the Sea of Japan. The park is well equipped with a long slide, large playground equipment, and athletic facilities for families with small children. You will be able to enjoy plenty of parent-child time.

The longest roller slide in the prefecture

The identity of Nanatsuka Central Park is its roller slide, the longest in the prefecture at 83 meters long. The slide entrance is located near the south entrance, giving visitors an exhilarating and thrilling experience as if they were sliding toward the Sea of Japan. A board to put on your hips is also provided for your safety.

Most trampolines are usually set up with standards for children. Therefore, adults may often watch with envy as children fly. However, the trampolines at Nanatsuka Central Park are huge and can be used by adults as well. How about bouncing and exercising with your children and letting the stresses of everyday life fly away with the whole family?

There is also a large playground equipment that is said to be inspired by "the undersea city ", so children must be bored enough to play there for a day. There is also a rocky area near the parking lot on the east side where water flows. The cool water is very pleasant during the hot summer season, and it is a good spot to enjoy the coolness. The park is well-equipped with facilities necessary for leisure activities, such as clean toilets and vending machines, so you will hardly feel any inconvenience.

Shinkansen-mieru Oka Park

The Hokuriku Shinkansen, which opened in 2015, basically runs through mountainous areas, and within Ishikawa Prefecture, there are a surprisingly limited number of spots where you can see it up close. The "Shinkansen-no Mieru Oka Park "maintained in Tsubata Town is one of them. The significance of the park's existence is obvious, with a very direct naming sense. The park's elevated location offers a fascinating view of the scenery and the running Shinkansen bullet train.

Asahiyama Industrial Park, where Shinkansen-mieru Oka Park is located, is about 3 km east of the center of Tsubata Town. This industrial park is just adjacent to the Shinkansen overpass, making it a truly favorable location to look down from above. Taking advantage of this location, the previously existing "Asahiyama No. 2 Park "was redeveloped. In 2014, before the Shinkansen bullet train began operations, the park was renamed to its current name.

Observe the Shinkansen bullet train running at over 200 km/h

As the name implies, the park was built for the purpose of viewing the Shinkansen, so there is no playground equipment, and it is a simple structure with a roof. The observation plaza has the scheduled passing time of the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train, so there is no need to check the time. The safety fence is open at eye level, which is very helpful for taking pictures. Thanks to this structure, you can see about 1.3 km between Myojin Tunnel and Sugise Tunnel without any obstacles.

Since this is a relatively well-known park with a lot of buzz, it is more of a gathering place for light railroad enthusiasts. "For those who call themselves photographers ", the impression is that it is not popular because of its somewhat disappointing composition. However, for the general public who are not particular about details, it is a great place to watch the Shinkansen bullet train run away from a good vantage point. We recommend that you visit the park with your family and curious children.

Omao Tatsuyama Kenmin Park

Located in the hills on the east side of Kanazawa City, "Oku-Utatsuyama Kenmin Park "offers a spectacular view of the city of Kanazawa and beyond to the Sea of Japan. Formerly a golf course, the park is gaining popularity as a place where children and adults alike can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

The park offers a variety of new sports. The first one to enjoy is "Park Golf ". Park golf is a sport in which players use special clubs and plastic balls to go around a hole, just like playing golf. Because of safety considerations, it can be enjoyed easily by people of all ages and genders. Also of note is "Nature Walk Rally ". This is an activity in which participants go around 10 points in the park and solve problems. It is a great way to use your body and brain in a rich natural setting.

Enjoy sweets at the cafe

"You can also enjoy light meals and delicious sweets at "Cafe Oku-Utsutatsu ", which is open at the Oku-Utsutatsu Nobi Koryukan ". The best recommendation is the rich soft-serve ice cream. The air is clean and the nature is abundant, so the soft serve ice cream is exceptional.
