Gyoza no Machi Utsunomiya
There are many cute gyoza motif objects and photo spots around Utsunomiya Station! Popular characters such as "Gyoza Ursus "are also attracting a lot of attention at souvenir shops. Even the venerable shrines and other places are designed to look like gyoza, so you can enjoy gyoza throughout the entire town!
Take the Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station, and two stops ahead of Omiya Station is Utsunomiya Station "JR Utsunomiya Station ".
The area around the station, which serves as the gateway to Utsunomiya, is home to commercial facilities such as "Utsunomiya Terrace ", which was built in 2022.
At the station, a dumpling elephant is quickly erected, reminiscent of "the city of dumplings "!
The statue is carved of Venus wrapped in dumpling skin "Gyoza no Venus "and is made of Oyaishi, a specialty of Utsunomiya City.
It was created as a tie-up with Utsunomiya City in 1994 as part of a TV program project, and was originally located in the pedestrian plaza at the east exit, but was relocated to the west exit pedestrian deck in October 2008 due to redevelopment, and then to the second floor of the pedestrian deck in October 2014.
It became a bit famous for an incident during the relocation when it fell from a lifting crane truck, but it was safely restored and is now a popular photo spot for tourists!

Tourist Attractions in Utsunomiya
Utsunomiya Futaarasan Shrine
The shrine is characterized by the red torii gate that appears in the city and the long stone steps that can be seen beyond the gate. "Futaarasan Shrine "
Utsunomiya Futaarayama Shrine enshrines three deities: Toyoki-irihiko-no-mikoto (the deity of the shrine), Omotonushi-no-mikoto and Kotoshironushi-no-mikoto (the deity of the shrine).
The Kojiki records that Toyojo-irihiko-no-mikoto, the deity of the shrine, pioneered the development of present-day Tochigi and Gunma prefectures, and subdued the eastern provinces of Japan.
It excelled in victory and was worshipped by famous warlords such as Minamoto no Yoriyoshi, Minamoto no Yoritomo, and Tokugawa Ieyasu as a god of victory prayer.
Because of this, it is beneficial for victory.
In addition to the main shrine, there are 12 smaller shrines (end shrines) within the precincts of Utsunomiya Futaarasan Shrine, which are dedicated to gods of learning, safe childbirth, fertility, and so on, so you can obtain various benefits from them.
The red seals at this shrine come in a variety of patterns, all with very cute designs, so it is hard to decide which one to choose!
Even if you do not have a collection of red seals, why not buy one as a commemorative gift and enjoy the benefits?
