More than 500 years ago, when Takahiro Matsumae, a lord of the city of Matsumae, was seriously ill, he followed his mother's advice and bathed in the hot springs of this area. In gratitude, he remodeled the shrine, installed a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, and dedicated a crocodile entrance.

Within the precincts of the temple, visitors can fully enjoy the historic atmosphere, with powerful stone statues of gojin and rabbits, and a series of red torii gates.

The hotel is a cross between a ryokan and a hotel, so I was able to spend an elegant time without any fuss.
