When photographed from the front, the couple rocks can be seen in the white torii gate, and there is a line of tourists waiting to take pictures.

There are no buildings around to block the view, so it is possible to take pictures from all angles.

The sacred couple rocks, also called sparrow rocks, are located about 150 m offshore from the coast. The rock on the right (male rock) is 11.8 m high and the rock on the left (female rock) is 11.2 m high (granodiorite).

The large sacred rope connecting the two rocks is 30 meters long, 50 cm in diameter, and weighs about 1 ton. Every year in late April or early May, at high tide, the shrine parishioners, dressed in heroic happi coats, make the large sacred rope and hang it over the rocks.

Also, around the summer solstice in June, the sun sets in the center of the husband and wife rocks, and the moon can be seen in the middle of the moon from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. on the 16th day of the 11th lunar month.

"Totoro no Mori "is located in Keya-no-Oto (芥屋の大門) on the northwestern edge of Itoshima City.

Akutoya no Daimon is famous for its sightseeing boats, and Totoro no Mori (Totoro's Forest) is still a little-known spot that many people overlook!

The way of life to Totoro Forest is a bit difficult to explain!
First, park your car in the parking lot and go to the right (east side) with the road behind you.
There is another way to proceed on the left, so please be careful not to make a mistake!

Then, as you pass by the direct sales office and shrine, you will see a torii gate and a large sign in front of it.

At the end of the narrow path to the left of this sign is what is commonly known as "Totoro Forest. From this position, it looks like nothing more than a dark bush, but don't worry!
Incidentally, the name "Totoro Forest" is not an official name, but merely what people call it.
Therefore, there is no signage or information that says "Totoro no Mori" (Totoro Forest).

As you walk through the bushes, the sunlight is blocked by the covered trees, making you feel as if you have wandered off somewhere.
The beautiful and fantastic world of Ghibli-like atmosphere can be enjoyed!

After exiting this bush, a viewing platform opens up.
