When most people think of Kanazawa's tourist attractions, they probably think of Kozumon Gate, the ruins of Kanazawa Castle, Kenrokuen Garden, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art.

Of course, all of those facilities are wonderful and highly recommended, but there are many other wonderful sightseeing spots in Kanazawa!

Naga-machi Buke Yashiki Ruins Area

The Naga-machi Buke Yashiki site, with its traditional earthen walls and stone-paved alleyways, is lined with grand samurai residences.
The area is designated as a traditional environment preservation area and a scenic area, and still maintains a quaint landscape.

The town is so beautiful that some people mistake it for a theme park, but it is a residential area with people living in most of the houses.
I hear the home of the president of that leading Japanese company is also located there?

What makes the scenery of this neighborhood even more impressive is the clear and abundant flow of the Onosho water supply. It is said that the water was once used to transport lumber and played a major role in the construction of Kanazawa Castle.

"The Nomura Residence "is open to the public and shows how samurai lived in those days. The garden is so beautiful that it has received a Michelin 2-star rating and attracts many tourists from overseas as well.

In winter, "komo-hanging "is carried out to protect the earthen walls of the townscape from snow and freezing, and tourists come to see this winter tradition in Kanazawa.

Along the Kurazuki Waterway, which runs from this area to downtown Korinbo, there are kappo restaurants, local restaurants, cafes, and other places that attract many people.

The town is very popular among foreign tourists as they can enjoy the good old atmosphere.
"Take a trip back in time to the Edo period by visiting the Maeda Tosamori Family Museum "and "to see the restored Nagaya-mon gate and the pond garden at the site of the former Kaga Clan retainer Takada's house ", and learn about the steady lifestyle of the Kaga Clan's foot soldiers at the Kanazawa Ashigaru Museum "and ".

Higashi Chaya-gai (Higashi-chaya district)

"Kanazawa Shitsure (former Moroeya) "Willow in front

It is not too much to say that it is the main part of the Higashi Chaya district, which is really bustling with tourists.
Many tourists and foreign tourists wearing kimonos can be seen, and you can enjoy the atmosphere of Kanazawa, where the past and the present, Japan and foreign countries are mixed together.

In order to protect the historical townscapes and landscapes that remain in each area, the government selected "the Important Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings "with high value as cultural assets in 2001, and this is said to be one of the reasons for the highest boom in popularity.

The teahouse district is lined with fashionable cafes, restaurants, and general stores that are sure to be Instagram-worthy. It is also famous for its famous gold leaf soft serve ice cream.

The tasteful stone-paved streets, the townhouses with their protruding wooden latticework, and the sound of the shamisen (a three-stringed Japanese instrument) coming from somewhere at dusk add to the feeling of traveling.
Why not take a leisurely stroll through this nostalgic town that still retains traces of the Edo period?

Asanogawa Bridge

Asano Ohashi Bridge is highly recommended when visiting Higashi Chaya-machi.

The beautiful arches of the Asanogawa Bridge, which conveys the romanticism of the Taisho era, was built in 1922 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2022.
It is familiar to many people as a local symbol of Kanazawa's uniqueness, and a place where one can feel the temperament of Kanazawa citizens who respect the good old days.

It was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property in 2000 for its historical value.

Located not far from the Higashi Chaya-gai tourist bus parking lot, it is also very accessible. In particular, the townscape reflected on the water at dusk is especially elegant and sure to impress!

The five-light An-don style lighting, which is retro in style, and the removal of all electric cables and their burial under the sidewalks, are some of the reasons for the restoration of the Taisho Period atmosphere of the area.

There is also a tourist souvenir store nearby.

Kanazawa Port Iki-iki Fish Market

Kanazawa is famous for the Omimachi Market.
Located close to Kanazawa Station, it is well known as "the citizens' kitchen "that supports Kanazawa's food culture.
The arcade is lined with approximately 170 stores specializing in fresh fish, vegetables, fruits, etc., as well as restaurants, and is crowded with many tourists.

Of course, Omimachi Market is also recommended, but if you want to enjoy a more "connoisseur" experience, this "Kanazawa Port Iki-iki Fish Market "is highly recommended.

Although the market is smaller in scale than Omimachi Market, there are fewer tourists, so you can enjoy shopping in a relaxed and leisurely manner.
The market is also used by local people on a daily basis, making it a place where you can feel more "Kanazawa-specific"!

Fishing boats return to Kanazawa Port between 8:00 and 9:00 at night.
The fish are auctioned off immediately at the market, and some are still alive and fresh. At the morning auction, fish from the fixed nets, freshly landed early in the morning from all over the prefecture, are lined up and auctioned off one after another to be sold at "Iki Iki Fish Market ".

The strength of Iki Iki Fish Market is that fish from Kanazawa Port in front of the market, as well as fish from Noto and Toyama Bay in the suburbs, are gathered at Kanazawa Port and carefully selected, mainly local fish are lined up at the market.

In order to bring you the true taste of Ishikawa's seasonal fish, we stubbornly stick to selling freshly caught local products, so you can enjoy shopping with peace of mind!

There are also other spots such as Kanazawa Port Terminal and Oyama Shrine that you can visit "to feel the unique "atmosphere of Kanazawa.
