This 1,200-meter-long bridge, which spans a U-shape from Prefectural Route 86 to National Route 331, offers a spectacular view of the bright blue Pacific Ocean. The name of the bridge is divided at the center, with Nirai Bridge on the mountain side and Kanai Bridge on the ocean side.

The bridge spans the slope of a mountain, and from the top of the bridge, visitors can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the large bridge, lush green trees, the beautiful emerald and cobalt blue Pacific Ocean, and the blue sky! The Niraikanai Bridge can be accessed from both the ocean side and the mountain top side, but the route down from the mountain top side is by far the most recommended. This is a small diner that is used by locals in the know, and is the best of the hole-in-the-walls. It is located not far from Niraikanai Bridge, but be careful not to pass it by as it looks too small to be a restaurant at first glance.

Once inside "THE Okinawan Diner ", you will feel as if you have wandered into a drama set in Okinawa. The restaurant is very compact with two small seats and two tables.

The menu is handwritten on a white board, and most items are reasonably priced at 500 to 700 yen. You can enjoy various kinds of Okinawan soba noodles, Okinawan soup dishes such as chunjung soup, bone soup, miso soup, and other Okinawan soup dishes, as well as chanpuru and stir-fried dishes made with Okinawan ingredients.

Vegetables such as hechima and wax gourd, which are rarely eaten outside of Okinawa, are used in abundance, and you can taste genuine Okinawan home cooking, not tourist food.

"Ishiki Beach "is the place where a ship carrying gods is said to have arrived from "Nirai Kanai ", which was believed to be an undersea utopia. It is said that a jar containing five grains arrived at this beach, and this is also the legendary place where the production of grains began on Kutaka Island and led to the production of grains on the main island of Okinawa. During the Ryukyu Dynasty, successive kings worshipped at this sacred beach.



Kutaka Island is a small island, about 8 km in circumference, so it is possible to get around on foot or by bicycle. There are several bicycle rental stores near the ferry terminal, so renting a bicycle is recommended to get around.

This take-out/eat-in tempura store on Okujima Island is popular for its reasonable prices (from 100 yen per piece), with customers rushing in to buy multiple pieces.

Okutake Island is only about 100 meters from the main island and is connected to it by a bridge. Just across that bridge is "Nakamoto Fresh Fish Tempura Restaurant ".
Unlike most tempura, which has a thin, crispy batter, Okinawan tempura is more like a fritter covered with a thick, eggy, flavorful batter. It can be eaten without any dipping sauce, but dipping it in Worcestershire sauce is also a staple of the locals.



I recommend mozuku seaweed and artha. The mozuku is crispy and almost like a snack. The arsa has a slightly salty taste and the sticky dough is addictive.

The traditional Okinawan style mansion, consisting of a wall standing between the main gate of the house and the main house "a pechinpun ", a detached house called "ashagi ", and the main house "which is currently used as the main seating and cooking area ", was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2009 (Heisei 21) for its value.
