Kakita River Park

Kakita River Park is located along the Kakita River, known as one of the three clearest rivers in Japan.
The park was opened in April 1986 in the upper reaches of the Kakita River as a place for town residents to relax for the purpose of "protecting and preserving nature ""securing a community square ".

The Kakita River is 30~50 meters wide and approximately 1,200 meters long, making it the shortest first-class river in Japan. In addition to the abundance of water in the Kakita River, the water temperature remains almost constant at 15 degrees both in summer and winter.

There are five spots in the park: "Lawn Plaza ""First Observatory ""Second Observatory ""Spring Water Plaza ""Wooden Eight Bridge " "There are benches and pavilions under the trees in the lawn plaza "for visitors to relax and unwind.

"The first observatory "is the uppermost point of the Kakita River.
Dozens of large and small springs can be seen where snow and rain that falls upstream, such as Mt. Fuji, become underground water that suddenly gushes out from under the national highway. It takes 26~28 years for water to flow from the Mt. The water that has been refined over such a long period of time gushes out from places called "gusumas. If you look closely at the center of the rounded area, you can see sand moving softly, and you can see water gushing out from there.

"From the second observatory "you can see a mysterious spring spot with blue water.
The spring water here was used as a well by a spinning mill in the past.
The color of the sand sinking to the bottom of the well and the sun's rays create a beautiful and fantastic blue.
If you look at the center of the circled spring, you can see blackish sand dancing in the beautiful blue water. The water level in the spring is almost constant throughout the year, so you can usually see this beautiful blue color on a sunny day.

"The spring water plaza "is a place where visitors can have direct access to spring water.
At "Poko-Poko Spring Room ", which looks like a square pond, you can experience the water flow, water pressure, and sand blowing up from the spring water with your hands. In summer, it is crowded with parents and children who enjoy playing with water.

"Wooden Yatsuhashi "is used as a walking path in the park.
You can see the graceful flow of the middle reaches of the Kakita River and feel the abundant spring water here as well.
A promenade has been established where visitors can stroll and enjoy the magnificent view of the Kakita River, a designated natural monument.

Surugafuku City Park

Sunpujo Park was developed on the site of Sunpujo Castle.
Sunpu Castle is a representative park of Shizuoka City, and is historically known throughout Japan as the residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the feudal lord who spent the last years of his life in the castle.

Surrounded by a moat on all four sides, the 18-hectare park has a history dating back to the Edo period. It is a comprehensive park with facilities such as a free open space, a French-style garden, and a playground, etc. Located in the center of the city, the park is popular among citizens as an excellent recreational place.

In 2001 (Heisei 13), Momijiyama Garden and Tea House were established on the north side of the park and became a popular tourist attraction. The garden was created based on the playful and enjoyable atmosphere of a castle lord's garden, and visitors can enjoy the seasonal atmosphere and coffee shop in the four gardens, which are interwoven with Suruga country's famous scenic spots.

The Ninomaru East Gate and Tatsumi Yagura (Tatsumi Tower) in the southeast corner of the park are one of the few restored buildings in Japan built in a purely wood-framed, hip-and-gable style.

In 1996, the East Gate was restored using traditional Japanese construction methods and opened to the public as a museum. The museum also features exhibits of materials excavated from Sunpu Castle Park and a restored room from Rinsaiji Temple, where Tokugawa Ieyasu is said to have been taught by Taihara Sessai during his childhood as a hostage. "Takechiyo Tenarai no Ma (Room of Learning) "

The Tatsumi Yagura was restored in 1989.
It has an L-shaped plan, which is rare among castle turrets in Japan, and was an excellent defensive turret among the turrets of Sunpu Castle.
Its majestic appearance is faithfully reproduced as it was in 1638.

And in 2014 (Heisei 26), the Kun Yagura (Hitsujisaru Yagura) was restored at the southwest corner.
The Kun Tower has three floors inside the building, but all floor and ceiling boards on each floor have been removed, allowing visitors to see through from the first floor to the beams on the third floor.
The structure of the turret, which was restored using traditional construction methods, is clearly visible, and visitors can learn about the structure under the floor of the turret, which can never be seen in other castles.

The park is also a popular tourist spot for cherry blossoms and azaleas, attracting visitors from far and wide.
